CHRISTMAS MOVIE: THE GRINCH
THE ARROWWOOD

7:30 PM – 9:30 PM

The 2018 animated film, The Grinch, brings the classic Dr. Seuss tale back to the screen with a modern, humorous touch. The story focuses on the grumpy, green-furred Grinch, who lives in solitude on Mount Crumpit with his loyal dog, Max, constantly aggravated by the overly enthusiastic Christmas celebrations of the nearby town of Whoville. When the Whos announce their plan to make this year’s Christmas three times bigger than before, the Grinch finally snaps, resolving that the only way to gain peace and quiet is to steal the holiday itself. He plans to disguise himself as Santa Claus and, with Max reluctantly pulling his makeshift sleigh, descend on Whoville on Christmas Eve to snatch every present, decoration, and holiday feast.

Meanwhile, down in Whoville, a young, kind-hearted girl named Cindy-Lou Who has her own plan: to trap Santa in order to personally ask him for a special favor—not for herself, but to help her overworked single mother. As the Grinch executes his elaborate, gadget-filled heist, he encounters Cindy-Lou, whose genuine kindness and selfless wish momentarily touch his heart. Despite this, he continues his mission. However, when the Whos wake up to find everything gone yet still gather to joyfully sing, the true meaning of Christmas—that it comes without ribbons and tags—finally causes the Grinch’s heart to grow three sizes. Humbled and reformed, he returns the stolen goods and is warmly invited to join the Whos’ Christmas feast.
