CHRISTMAS MOVIE: HOME ALONE
THE ARROWWOOD3:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Home Alone centers on eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, the youngest in a large, chaotic family preparing for a Christmas trip to Paris. After a family argument the night before their flight, Kevin is banished to the attic and angrily wishes that his family would disappear. The next morning, the family accidentally oversleeps and rushes to the airport in a panic, completely forgetting Kevin behind in the confusion. Waking up to an empty house, Kevin initially revels in his newfound freedom, enjoying all the things he’s usually forbidden from doing, like eating junk food and watching violent movies. However, his isolation is soon interrupted when he realizes two notorious but clumsy burglars, Harry and Marv, known as the “Wet Bandits,” are targeting his seemingly empty house.
Forced to protect his home, Kevin transitions from enjoying his freedom to cleverly defending his territory. He uses his imagination and household items to set up an elaborate series of booby traps—including electrified doorknobs, slippery stairs, and flaming obstacles—to outsmart and injure the persistent burglars. Amidst the chaos, Kevin also learns the importance of family and, after a heartbreaking conversation with an elderly neighbor, Marley, finds hope. Meanwhile, his mother, Kate, realizes her mistake mid-flight and races back to Chicago, desperately trying to get home. On Christmas morning, after fending off the bandits and seeing them arrested, Kevin’s wish is reversed as Kate finally arrives, followed by the rest of the family, culminating in a warm, loving reunion just in time for the holiday.
